Luis Aparicio Collection - 2015 Topps Stadium Club

Luis Aparicio had a few new cards come out in 2015. I'm still trying to track them all down. Next up is his base card from the 2015 Topps Stadium Club set.

Topps always saves the best photos for their Stadium Club sets. This is a familiar pose for Lil Luis but I think it's a photo that hasn't been used on a card before. That's an assumption that is based one hundred percent on gut and zero percent on research. I could be wrong.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2015 Topps Archives

Luis Aparicio had a few new cards come out in 2015. I'm still trying to track them all down. First up is his base card from the 2015 Topps Archives set.

The 1983 Topps design is a classic. I don't remember this red and yellow color scheme in the original set though.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2013 Panini Cooperstown Orange Cracked Ice Parallel

Oh man I had been after this card for awhile. I finally found one at a good price. It finishes up my rainbow. One day soon I'll do an official "Hey look at this rainbow!" post.

Luis Aparicio Collection - Autographed 8x10 # 3

I was going through some of my dad's autographs three nights ago and came across this signed photo of Chicago White Sox Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio. I was surprised that the first two signed 8x10 photos for our Lil Luis collection featured him in a Red Sox uniform. This one is a pretty common shot of him on the White Sox.

Luis Aparicio Collection - Autographed 8x10 # 2

I was going through some of my dad's autographs two nights ago and came across this signed photo of Chicago White Sox Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio. Way back in May of 2011 I posted the first signed 8x10 photo for our Lil Luis collection. It took awhile but this will officially be the second.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2014 Panini National Treasures Game Used Bat Relic

Whoa. It's been a long time since I sat down to write a blog post. Don't worry I'm not dead or anything, I just haven't been buying many cards lately. I kind of found a new obsession to suck up my discretionary income. There have been a few cards that I've added to my collection but not many.

Last week, Daniel from one of my all-time favorite blogs, It's Like Having My Own Card Shop, contacted me about a few cards he found that he thought I might like. He was right.

Daniel sent over some nice Travis Lee cards, a 1972 Luis Aparicio In Action and an amazing relic card from the 2014 Panini National Treasures set. It's awesome and it's numbered to 99 on the front.

A funny thing happened after Daniel emailed me. I went on eBay and started looking at cards. I even bought a few things. More blog posts? Maybe. I'm not good at commitments. Remember this? My last triumphant return fizzled out after only three posts.

I'm not sure if anyone is going to reading this, but if you did leave a comment and say hello.

Thank you for the great cards, Daniel.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2004 Leaf Limited Trademarks

I didn't have this 2004 Leaf Limited Trademarks card so when I was doing my COMC Black Friday shopping I had to have it. It's numbered 93/100 and cost me just under a dollar.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2013 Panini Cooperstown Green Crystal Parallel

When I bought this 2013 Panini Cooperstown Green Crystal Parallel I thought it was the final parallel I needed. It turns out there's an orange one too. There doesn't seem to be one available anywhere right now so I guess I'll have to be patient.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2007 UD Masterpieces Windsor Green Parallel

Here's another card we picked up as part of our COMC Black Friday purchase. I like how this parallel of Luis Aparicio's 2007 UD Masterpieces card is described as "windsor green" not just "green." Classy.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2012 Leaf Memories Originals

Here's another nice pickup from our COMC Black Friday purchase. This Luis Aparicio card is from the 2012 Leaf Memories Originals set. It's numbered to 99 on the front and only set me back 91 cents. A nice deal for a nice card with a classic 90s design.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2006 Topps Turkey Red Red Parallel

Ah Turkey Red. Remember how Topps crammed out down our throats until we couldn't stand you any longer?

I picked up this 2006 Topps Turkey Red red parallel as part of my COMC Black Friday purchase. I prefer the base to the red border but I'm glad to have another new Lil Luis card for our collection.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 1960 Topps World Series Game 5

When I was doing my Black Friday shopping on COMC this was a must add. For only $1 I took home this 1960 Topps World Series Highlights card of Luis Aparicio. It came with the warning that it was in poor to fair condition. Well that was no secret because you could see plenty of creasing and damaged corners in the scan. Sometimes a perfect card is great but this one has lots of character and I love it. That was the best dollar I've spent in a long time.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2008 Topps Heritage Seat Relic

Each year I always look forward to the new Topps Heritage set. In addition to the classic designs used for the base set they have great inserts. This Luis Aparicio Stadium Seat relic card from the 2008 Topps Heritage set is no exception. The best part is it commemorates Luis and the White Sox winning the AL pennant in 1959.

I picked this one up as part of my COMC Black Friday purchase for just under $4. It was one of the more expensive cards I bought that day but it's been on my want list since it was originally released.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 1957 Topps

I'm trying to fill in some of the missing vintage Luis Aparicio cards we need. I saw this 1957 Topps card and had to have it. It has great centering, great corners and no creases. I don't mind a little damage but this one looked so great I knew it was coming home with me.

Fresh off the Rookie of the Year award, Luis led the league in stolen bases in 1957 for the second time in as many years.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2011 Tristar Obak Cut Signatures

I found this one on eBay before the holidays. I'm not much for cut signatures but I feel like I got a pretty good deal. The seller had it listed at a reasonable price with the best offer option. I threw in a modest offer of $6 shipped and he accepted. That's a great price for a HOF auto even if it's a cut.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2006 WBC Signed Jersey

When I stumbled across an auction for this Luis Aparicio 2006 World Baseball Classic signed jersey I knew I had to have it.

I'm not sure what the history of this jersey is exactly. It might be something that was sold in team shops during the 06 WBC. I'm not sure why they would have one for Luis unless it was sold in Venezuela. The patches on the sleeves and tags look identical to this Victor Zambrano game used jersey that was sold back in 2007 by Lelands.

While I'll probably never know the full history, I'll just enjoy it as a unique item for our Luis Aparicio collection. I'd like to get it framed and hang it up sometime soon. We'll see I can get my wife to agree with that.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 1956 Topps

You can't have a player collection without the rookie card right? I was going through a box of my dad's cards before the holidays and came across this one. I knew he had it, I just hadn't seen it in awhile.

Behold the glory of Luis Aparicio's 1956 Topps rookie card:

It's in pretty good shape for being fifty-eight years old. Sure the corners are slightly rounded and there's some creasing by Luis's hat but I love it. A great card with a little character. Thanks, Dad!

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2013 Panini Cooperstown Gold Cracked Ice Parallel

On a recent trip to Sportlots I found a seller who had a few 2013 Panini Cooperstown cards I needed. Next up is the gold cracked ice parallel of Luis Aparicio's base card. This one is the rarest of the parallels and is numbered 120/299 on the back.

The final card for this rainbow should arrive in the mail this week. It was part of my COMC Black Friday purchase.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2013 Panini Cooperstown Red Cracked Ice Parallel

On a recent trip to Sportlots I found a seller who had a few 2013 Panini Cooperstown cards I needed. Next up is the red cracked ice parallel of Luis Aparicio's base card. I think the red border works better on this card than the blue we posted last week. This one is numbered 310/399 on the back.

Luis Aparicio Collection - 2013 Panini Cooperstown Blue Cracked Ice Parallel

On a recent trip to Sportlots I found a seller who had a few 2013 Panini Cooperstown cards I needed. Next up is the blue cracked ice parallel of Luis Aparicio's base card. These are just a rip-off of what Topps has already done but they're still nice. This one is numbered 328/499 on the back. The blue is okay but I think I like the other colored parallels better.
