A friend from SCN helped us out last season with this signed Josh Barfield 2008 Topps card for our set. Josh signed it before a Long Island Ducks game. I remember when Josh was the Padres top prospect. He last appeared in the big leagues with the Indians in 2009. Since then he's bounced around with a few organizations and has played in the Atlantic League.
Former Indians infielder, Casey Blake, signed a card for our set. He had a few good years in Cleveland. His best was in 2004 when he hit 28 home runs and drove in 88 runs.
Former first round pick of the Cleveland Indians, Jeremy Sowers, signed a card for our set. Yes! Despite all of the non-08 Topps posts lately we're still working on the set. # UH 329 - Jeremy Sowers Progress: 499/990
Blog reader Dan has helped us out with some great signed 2008 Topps cards in the past. This time he's really out done himself. He sent over seven new cards. All of them are amazing!
Travis Hafner is another player that I really liked a few years back. This dude was crushing the ball in 2006. That was the year he hit six grand slams setting a single season record.
Dan hooked me up with a signed 08 Topps card of this Indians legend. Thanks, Dan! With these seven cards, we're dangerously close to the halfway mark for our set!
After spending some time in Cleveland, Eric Wedge is now the manager for the Seattle Mariners. From what it sounds like the players really like him. Maybe he can turn things around in Seattle. They've had a rough few years.
In addition to his regular card, Joe Borowski also signed the AL Save Leaders card for us. This is the first League Leaders card we've gotten signed for our set.
Got a nice TTM return today. Former Cleveland Indians closer, Joe Borowski signed a card for our set. Joe led the league in saves in 2007 with 45. Not too bad.
Blog reader Dan has been going to a few Cleveland Indians games lately. He was nice enough to send over four signed cards for our set. Thanks, Dan!
Next up is Shin-Soo Choo. Choo put up big numbers last season and turned into a fantasy baseball must. He was doing well this year too until hurting his shoulder last month.
Earlier this year, I sent a few Colorado Rockies cards to a friend on SportsGraphing.com for a Spring Training 50/50. He was able to get a few 08 Topps cards signed for our set.
Rafael Betancourt was traded from the Cleveland Indians to the Colorado Rockies during July last season. Since then, he has established himself as a valuable part of the Rockies bullpen.
Well... here it is... our final post for Spring Training 2010. We were able to add fifty signed 08 Topps cards for our set. That doesn't include the six Opening Day cards we got signed or any of the Refractors, Chromes, or Team Set cards that I have yet to post about. Those will come later but today is all about Franklin Gutierrez.
The second card I was able to get signed on Thursday was from another new Seattle Mariners player. Even though the hitters aren't due to report to Spring Training until next week, former Indians and Giants first baseman, Ryan Garko was already out in Peoria getting his work in.
Ryan will probably spend most of his time coming off the bench but he is one of the many small additions the Mariners have made that could push them to the top of the AL West this year.
The very first autograph I was able to get yesterday was of new Seattle Mariners pitcher, Cliff Lee. Can't go wrong with starting the spring off with a Cy Young award winner.
Obviously I was very happy to get Cliff to sign his All-Star card from the 08 Topps set. Having Cliff along with Felix Hernandez and Erik Bedard is going to make the Mariners dangerous in 2010.
A friend over at SportsGraphing.com helped me out with six signed 08 Topps cards.
The second card is of former Cleveland Indians outfielder, Jason Michaels. Jason is getting ready to head into Spring Training as a member of the Houston Astros. He's always been a solid part-time outfield and will probably fill the same role in Houston.
More mail! Today brought a signed card from former Cleveland Indians catcher, Yamid Haad. Yamid is now with the Seattle Mariners organization and is currently a member of the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx.
