Happy Super Bowl Sunday, everybody! I don't care too much for the NFL these days outside of beating my friends at fantasy football. I figured today was an appropriate day for a football card post.
I found this Dominique Rodgers-Chomartie certified autograph from the 2008 Topps Chrome set in a box around the holidays. I don't remember when I bought it but it must have been before we started this blog.
DRC left the desert in the Kevin Kolb trade. Yah let's not talk about that deal and just enjoy this addition to our 2008 Topps collection.
# TC-193 - Dominique Rodgers-Chomartie - Chrome
Grabbed this one for a buck or two. I'm not too into football but Kevin Kolb is the Arizona Cardinals quarterback and I guess I kind of like my hometown team. Notice the lack of enthusiasm in that statement. Maybe I'd be a little more excited if it was Peyton Manning... just sayin.
Anyway, I liked the green swatch on this one so it's now part of our 08 Topps collection.
# R-KK - Kevin Kolb - Relic Card
Today's kicks off the newest feature here at My 2008 Topps Set Blog. It's Free Shipping Friday!What does that mean? I'm a sucker for eBay auctions with free shipping. On Fridays I'll be posting cards I bought for cheap that had free shipping. In a lot of cases the seller lost money to send us these. Man, I love it when that happens.
Expect to see some cards for our growing D-Backs collection on Free Shipping Fridays as well as various 2008 Topps stuff and random autographs and relic cards that were just so cheap, I couldn't pass them up.
First up is a card that I threw in a really low bid for and ended up winning. We got this Mario Williams Gold Refractor for 11 cents. It's numbered 304/425 on the back. I haven't done much with the 2008 Topps football set but I was glad to grab this one for our collection.
I remember being super excited when the Arizona Cardinals drafted Matt Leinart. His time here in AZ turned out to be kind of disappointing but he has a fresh start today. Matt should be the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans when they take the field later this morning. I wish him the best of luck.I grabbed this printing plate a few months ago. The NFL season is less than a month away. Seems like a good time to do our first ever post on a 2008 Topps football card.
We picked up this jersey card of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, Early Doucet. If the Cards don't sign a free agent WR, Early will probably be their number two guy this year.
