# UH 268 - Alfonso Soriano

We added another good one for our set. My dad won this card off eBay for us. It's Alfonso Soriano's All-Star card from the 2008 Topps set. Thanks, Dad.

Soriano is a 7x All-Star and was even the All-Star Game MVP in 2004.

Former Chicago Cubs prospect, Felix Pie signed a card for our set. After spending a few years in Chicago Felix was traded to the Baltimore Orioles where he has fought to be an everyday player. He even hit for the cycle on August 14, 2009.

Blog reader Dan has been going to a few Cleveland Indians games lately. He was nice enough to send over four signed cards for our set. Thanks, Dan!

The final card Dan sent over is of one of my favorite players, Kerry Wood. He isn't the same pitcher he was pre-2003 but I'm still a fan for what he did for those few years while wearing Cubbie blue.

After beginning his career with the Chicago Cubs, Kevin Hart is now with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was traded last season in the deal that brought Tom Gorzelanny to Chicago. He is currently assigned to the Pirates Triple A team ( the Indianapolis Indians ).

# UH 60 - Jim Edmonds

Jim Edmonds is another current Milwaukee Brewers player who has two cards in the 08 Topps set. We were able to get him to sign his Chicago Cubs card from the Updates & Highlights set the other day.

Over the past two decades, Jim has been one of the most exciting players to watch. We are very glad to have this card in our collection.

# UH 275 - Rich Harden

It was great to see Rich Harden out in Surprise, Arizona wearing a Texas Rangers uniform. I've been a fan of Rich's since his days with the A's and was excited to hear he'll be leading the Rangers rotation in 2010.

If Rich had been healthy since his MLB debut in 2003 he would be one of the top 5 pitchers in all of baseball. Instead, he has continued to find himself on the disabled list. When he's pitched, he's managed to win 50 games and put up a career ERA of 3.39. Pretty good for a guy who has spent most of his time in the American League.

The Rangers are my pick to win the World Series this year. In order to increase the probability that this will happen, they'll need a full season out of Rich Harden.

Another nice offseason request came back today. Former Chicago Cubs pitcher, Jon Lieber signed a card for our set.

I really liked Jon Lieber during his first stint with the Cubbies. His 21 wins in 2001 probably had a lot to do with that.

2008 National League All-Star, Ryan Dempster signed his card from the U&H set for us. Back in May graciously signed his regular card TTM. That was our 62nd signed 08 Topps card. This one puts us at 132 out of the 990.

2008 NL Rookie of the Year, Geovany Soto signed a card for our set. I was happy to get this one back. Geovany had a great season last year for the Cubbies and was even voted onto the All-Star team.
